Overview
Founded nearly 100 years ago, the Denver Foundation (TDF) is the largest and most established community foundation in the Rocky Mountain West. The Foundation manages its own endowment, as well as serving as a steward for over 1,000 funds established by donors.
Racial Equity Updates
The Denver Foundation has continued to make progress on these initiatives and closely track it through a dashboard for staff and board of trustees. Their major funding strategy, the Community Grants Program, is extremely intentional in incorporating this value: asking applicants about their commitment to racial equity and including that in decisions on grantmaking. As a result, TDF awards a higher percentage of grants to BIPOC-led and serving organizations than those that apply. The foundation is also working on revamping its Inclusiveness and Equity Committee into a more collaborative working group. This group will work to enhance organizational culture by supporting individual’s learning and growth within the core competency of racial equity. Recently, the book club read I’m Not Broken by Jesse Leon for their racial equity book club.
