Offered as part of our Family Economic Security initiative, this webinar explores the importance of community wealth building – an approach to community health and development that advances locally rooted and broadly held ownership and is particularly beneficial to low- and moderate-income communities.
It outlines how community foundations can partner with anchor institutions (hospitals, banks, universities, public schools and more) to support the growth of regional economies by investing, hiring and buying locally.
Speakers
Ted Howard, Co-Founder and President of The Democracy Collaborative,
will provide an overview of community wealth building and discuss its drivers and importance in building prosperous, equitable communities. While at Democracy Collaborative, Ted has for nearly 20 years helped partners implement community wealth building strategies on the ground.
Randy Royster, President and CEO of the Albuquerque Community Foundation,
will provide a case study on Healthy Neighborhoods Albuquerque, a city-wide effort to develop a community wealth building strategy with anchor institutions, including health institutions and public purchasing initiatives — with a discussion of early successes and lessons learned.
