ELI for VPs discuss their foundations’ racial equity journeys in Miami
The 2022-23 ELI for VPs cohort recently came together in Miami for their second meeting. Thank you to Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, President and CEO at The Miami Foundation for hosting and for sharing how the foundation has started to shift its practices to engage community and advance equity.
Thank you also to Pam Ross, Vice President of Community Leadership & Equitable Initiatives at Central Indiana Community Foundation for speaking about the foundation’s trust-based philanthropy work has emerged from its racial equity and community leadership activities.
Cross-country learning in Guadalajara
In February, 117 community foundation leaders, staff and partners from across the Americas met for the Connecting Communities in the Americas Gathering in Guadalajara, Mexico, for two days of strategy sharing and envisioning of a community philanthropy that is locally driven, inclusive and transformational.
Participants from ten countries in North, Central, South America and the Caribbean shared their perspectives on current issues in philanthropy in their regions, how they are practicing community leadership and nurturing local giving. A big thank you to Corporativa de Fundaciones for playing the role of host community foundation!
It was so inspiring to share this time with philanthropy colleagues across the Americas. We have some beautiful differences, but so much in common. I am so grateful that I could attend.
36 community foundations deepen their public policy knowledge
We were pleased to partner with the Council on Foundations in February to offer a training that provided community foundation leaders and staff with the knowledge and resources needed to excel in advocating for the nonprofits and communities doing the hard work of social change.
